Why do junction boxes of solar modules install diodes?

2023-08-16

Because the forward voltage drop and leakage current of a diode are inversely proportional to the protection of the solar panel circuit, a balance is required in choosing a diode.

The junction box is calculated and arranged according to the short-circuit current and open-circuit voltage of the solar module. The diode is an electronic component used for one-way current conduction. The battery board usually charges the battery during the day, and the voltage of the battery board is lower than that of the battery at night. In order to prevent The battery charges the solar panel in turn at night and damages the panel, so an anti-reverse charge diode should be added to prevent the current from flowing from the battery to the solar panel.

Precautions for solar  module installation:

1. During the storage, handling, and installation of solar modules, no collision or damage is allowed, and special attention must be paid to prevent the glass surface of the module and the backplane material on the back from being directly impacted by hard objects. Solar cell components should be free from deformation, glass without damage, scratches and cracks.

2. It is strictly forbidden to connect the positive and negative quick plugs of the same solar module connection line, and it is strictly forbidden to touch the metal live parts of the solar module string.

3. The unpacked battery panels on the construction site must be laid flat with the front facing up, and the bottom is padded with wooden pallets or battery panel packaging materials. It is strictly forbidden to stand upright, obliquely or hang in the air, and it is strictly forbidden to expose the back of the module directly to the sun.

4. It is strictly forbidden to step on the battery board to avoid damage to the components or personal injury. It is strictly forbidden to squeeze or hit, collide or scratch the tempered glass of the photovoltaic module with sharp objects.
